Tim Ellis, Creative Director, was the single representative for West Midlands Inspire Marked projects at a briefing for the regions’ media at the Media Flat overlooking the Olympic site in Stratford, London, at the start of November.

The media splash, hosted by former Olympian Jonathan Edwards CBE, was also attended by representatives of the London 2012 Organising Committee (LOCOG), Artists Take the Lead and the Cultural Olympiad, and was designed to showcase the Olympic Village to those who are involved in the Games in the Midlands.

Hybrid Arts’ ground-breaking Cultural Olympiad project in partnership with Coventry Transport Museum, Extraordinary Cycles, continues to generate interest both locally and nationally. It was awarded the Inspire Mark in September 08 and July 09 – the award officially recognises outstanding non-commercial projects and events inspired by the Games.

Return again soon for a full report by Ellis.

What is Extraordinary Cycles?
Extraordinary Cycles is a ground-breaking partnership project between Hybrid Arts and Coventry Transport Museum which celebrates the marriage of sport and art through exploring and developing the art form of dancing on bikes.

Extraordinary Cycles aims to involve all people – leisure cyclists, professionals and cycling organisations – using sport and art to give power and weight to the presence of cycling, attracting new cyclists and lobbying for improved cycling conditions for all.
